early to bed, early to rise

getting up early wouldn't feel like much of an accomplishment, if i did it every day. this is how i rationalize sleeping in until now (11:30) most days. but today i got up at 8. my grampa is coming to visit. he should get here around 4. i've already taken a liesurely shower, eaten breakfast, tidied up a bit, started my laundry, and soon i shall walk down the big hill to buy some soft soap and get more quarters. it's almost surreal to do in one morning more than i usually do in an entire day, and before i would ordinarily even be awake.

p.s. this wasp has been dicking around my window opening for so many days now that it doesn't even put me on alert. i poured tea out the window as i usually do, which happened to be within about 1.5 inches of the fucker. this, too, is strange to me.
